How to get a student visa?

Non-U.S. residents must have a passport and visa to enter the United States. The visas issued to non-U.S. residents to study in the United States are:

Once you have been admitted into a school or university, you will receive an I-20 form issued by the school (for a F-1 or M-1 visa) or an IAP-66 form (for a J-1 visa). Take this I-20 or IAP-66 form to the U.S. consulate or embassy along with additional information to prove that you can pay for your living and education expenses in the U.S.. The U.S. consulate officer may request that you present a certificate of health as well.

Transferring Schools:

If you decide to attend another school other than the one that issued you the I-20 or IAP-66 form, you must consult the U.S. consulate officer. Once you are in the U.S. you may transfer to another school. You will need a new I-20 form from the school you are transferring to as well as apply for a change in status or transfer from the U.S. Immigration Service.
